Versatile System Communications Integration

  • Test multiple buildings using existing networks
  • Test remote sites via modem
  • Manage several buildings from one location

Most buildings require only the basic system network structure to operate the Clevertronics Monitoring System. Typically, the software resides on a head-end PC which is connected to a Router Control Unit (RCU). From here the RCU is connected via data cable to one or more Powerline Injectors which transmit the Spread Spectrum signal over the mains cabling to the emergency luminaires.

There are however, many situations where a more advanced integration with a variety of communications protocols and conduits is required to provide the best solution. Multi-building sites and multiple sites located vast distances from each other can benefit from this technology. A few examples will illustrate this point:

Modems

Telstra Sites, Queensland

Instead of installing separate systems over several sites, the system can be configured to dial-in to all these locations from one central point. This allows a central service department to streamline the testing and maintenance process. Telstra have their head-end PC located at the Woolloongabba Exchange, which automatically dials to 32 remote exchanges, often thousands of kilometers away. Automatic discharge tests are performed and reports sent back to the head-end PC.

TCP/IP Portal

Monash University, Caulfield Victoria

Rather than running additional cables between buildings, the system can tap into an existing intranet to link the site for testing purposes. In this way we are utilising an existing communications infrastructure rather than adding another one. Hundreds of buildings are able to be monitored via an existing network back to the head-end PC.

Fibre Optic Network

APIN - Department of Defence, Northern Territory

The Clevertronics Monitoring System was selected for this security sensitive site. The system links some 200 buildings containing 2,500 emergency luminaires with communication between buildings by way of in-ground sub-mains and the site's existing fibre optic network.
